Lost in the Night (2)

Nijimura x Reader

Was it really just 30 years? Nijimura closed his eyes before he lifted your unconscious body off him and moved you to the couch in the living room.

Around 40 years ago, Nijimura met you grandmother she was around her early thirties and is working in the US. She was sent by her company to do some business with the US branch and that is where he met her.

Nijimura back then was a tourist. And he met Sayaka in a small restaurant. They become friends in an instant and Nijimura fell for her charms.

"Don't be silly, I'm too old for you..." was her response when Nijimura confessed, "and besides, I have a family waiting for me at home."

"It's alright! We can still--" Nijimura tried to convince her but failed.

"I'm sorry.” Sayaka smiled apologetically at Nijimura, “We might be in bad terms right now, but I cannot just leave him like this."

"Fine." Nijimura sighed in defeat, "In the next 1O years, I will be back for you. If your marriage by then is still on the verge of breaking, I will take you away."

"Will you still love me even if I'm in my 40's?" Sayaka joked.

"I will love you even if you’re already in your hundreds!” Nijimura promised.

“Is that a vampire joke?” Sayaka laughed.

“No, vampire doesn’t do jokes.” Nijimura answered with pure seriousness.

A year after they met, Sayaka was transferred back to Japan and Nijimura disappeared...or so that is what Sayaka thought.

Nijimura moved to Japan and followed Sayaka. He just can’t leave her on her own. He needs to see it with his own eyes, that Sayaka is in good hands...in the hands of her own husband.

When Sayaka came home, her husband welcomed her. It surprised her really. 2 years ago before she left for US, they were arguing and her husband threatened her with a divorce if she proceed to leave the country. She insisted that she want’s to grow on her own and not with her husband’s influence at work that is why she pursued the transfer...they fought but they never broke up. And upon her return, her husband welcomed her warmly which broke her heart a little and broke Nijimura’s cold heart as a whole.

10 years.

Nijimura promised himself, one scratch in their marriage and he promise to take her away.

Nijimura left Japan and stayed in the US for 10 years. He never wrote a letter to her yet he never broke his promise that he will meet her again after ten years...and he did.

It was a party and Nijimura got invited as a senior manager from where he was ‘working’. The youngest senior manager from the US branch. He was already expecting to see Sayaka again in that party, and just as expected...she was there. With her husband and a fourteen year old boy who was quietly following them around.

Nijimura knew she was happy right in that instant so he decided to break his promise to her and leave the party before she sees him. But that night, the fate isn’t on his side.

“Today, your lucky item is a brand new silver ring.” he remembered Midorima reminding him before he left the hotel suit.

“I don’t need your lucky items, Midorima.”

“You will need it.” Midorima insisted as he placed the box containing the small ring on his pocket. “Don’t worry, its brand new. There is no curse attached to that ring.”

“Curse?” Nijimura raised a brow. “Who will even give me a cursed ring?”

“Aomine.” Midorima answered quietly, “he is an idiot and will probably give you a cursed ring that he can get from Momoi’s collection.”

Frowning, Nijimura turned from Midorima.

“Then I shall take my leave.”

“I’ll see you in the morning.” Midorima called after him before he closed the door.

“Lucky item my ass!” Nijimura cursed inwardly as he paused his tracks and his eyes watched the movements of the woman in the parking lot and is getting something from the back of her car.

“Gods where is that shawl! I remember having that with me before we left the car” She whined.

Sayaka.

Sayaka’s beauty never ceases to amaze Nijimura. Even in her early forties, she’s still look like a goddess that descended from the heavens to punish Nijimura’s poor dead heart. Nijimura stopped walking and immediately turned to the other direction. He didn’t want to meet her today. Not today, and probably not tomorrow too.

“Shuuzo?” Nijimura froze.

Nijimura didn’t turn. But he stopped his tracks,he can feel her getting closer to him. He can run, but he don’t want to regret it later...

“It’s been ten years.” He can hear her smile, if that is possible even without looking at her. Not literally hear the smile, we all know that is impossible, but let’s just say he can hear a pleasant reaction from her tone. “I never thought you’d come!”

“Silly girl.” Nijimura smiled sadly before he finally turned to meet her face to face.

Sayaka gave him a warm hug.

“It’s nice to finally see you again, Shuuzo.”

“Me too.” Nijimura answered, “but I see that he is taking good care of you now.” he commented and Sayaka smiled sadly.

“Yes. We finally got back together, and this time he accepted everything that I want him to accept.”

“That is good.” Nijimura said, “but probably, not for me.”

“Don’t say that.” Sayaka said, “I am not the one for you.”

“You’re wrong. I still think you are the one for me!”

“I’m too old for you.”

“I’m older than you and you know that!” irritated, Nijimura interrupted “Age doesn’t matter for me! I could’ve stopped you from aging! If you only let me back then!”

Sayaka held Nijimura’s hand tightly with her own. “You look too young. I don’t want the other people to laugh at you for being with an older woman. And besides, time will come and you might find someone who is greater than me.”

“You’re an idiot for thinking that other’s comments will affect my feelings for you! I have lived for 400 hundred years and no comment affects me from living my life the way I want it!”

“But I’d probably take their comments to the heart...” Sayaka smiled sadly.

“Humans...” Nijimura grumbled.

“Do you want to come over to our place?”

“Thank you for the invitation, but I have to get back to my suite or my acquaintance will probably think that I have gone back to being a delinquent.” Nijimura lied.

“I see.” Sayaka smiled sadly, “Be happy, Shuuzo.”

“You too.” Nijimura said and then he remembered the ring on his pocked. “Wait a second.”

Sayaka looked at Nijimura, “What is it?”

“Here,.” Nijimura fished out the box of ring from his pocket, took out the silver ring and showed it to Sayaka. “Wear this ring forever, don’t take it out.” He inserted it on her ring finger together with the wedding ring she was wearing which disgusted Nijimura slightly.

“Eh?”

“Keep that forever and never take it off.” Nijimura said, “it will protect you from harm.” he said before lifting her hand to his lips and he kissed it...he kissed the ring and whispered something Sayaka cannot comprehend.

“Keepsake.” he said, “your husband will not even notice you are wearing this, so there’s nothing to worry about.” He promised.

And with that, he left. He left Sayaka there at the parking as he disappeared in the middle of the street. Since then he never showed himself in front of Sayaka.

He knew she died when he felt the life from the ring he gave her faded and it broke him...he never showed up in the funeral, no...but he cried. He got angry and regretted the chance he got to change her to one of his own...they could still be together...

Four years later, he received a letter from a lawyer in Japan stating that a house owned by Sayaka (last name) can only be sold to him. And if he doesn’t want it, he is asked to write a letter to allow the owners to sell it to other people.

He came home after a year to finally check on the house that Sayaka wants him to have and as expected, it was beautiful. But that is not what attracted Nijimura to get the house... But the granddaughter of Sayaka who resembles her a lot... In all ways.

---NIJIMURA---

Wincing, you opened your eyes and let them adjust to the lightning of the room where you are currently in.

“OW--” you winced again from the pain coming from your neck. “What just?”

“I’m glad that you are awake.” Nijimura greeted you, holding a cup of tea. “I brought tea.” he said before he placed it on the table.

“Y-you!!” your face turned pale and you moved away from him. “You bit me!”

“Yes, I did.” he admitted.

“You’re a vampire!!” you accused him.

“Yes. And that is not new.” he answered calmly. “Come, drink this tea. It will calm your nerves.”

“No!” you refused, “You bit me you asshole! It hurts like hell!” you angrily threw a pillow at him that was lying on your side. He didn’t dodge it. It hit him straight to the face. “Bastard!”

There was silence.

“You have a very rude mouth, (name).” he commented shoving the pillows away and pinning you down on the couch and gave you a good look on his sharp fangs. Your body immediately froze from his sudden action leaving you no time to scream for help or anything at all.

You stared at Nijimura in shock.

‘He’s going to eat me!’ you screamed in your head. You were scared as fuck now. Double scared. He’s more scarier right now.

“You will listen to me. If you will not drink that tea, you will not leave this house. I will not let you go back home looking like a half dead mess that you are right now.” He sneered to to your ear.

There was silence again and Nijimura waited for your reaction.

“You will not eat me then?” You whispered.

“No.” he answered as he pulled away from you and sitting up before picking up the cup of tea from the table.

“T-this is safe?” you asked worriedly as you examined the cup of tea.

“Safe.” He assured you. “From Kyoto.” he added as he watch you take a small sip.

“I need to go home.” you said as you try to finish the tea.

“Yes, I will let you go home.” He promised, “but right after we talk.”

“Talk?” you looked up at him worriedly, “I will not tell anyone what you are.” you immediately said.

“Yes, I know.”

“Then what else is there to talk about?”

“Your necklace.” He said, hand moving to trace the necklace that you are wearing. You can feel his cold finger touching the exposed skin of your neck and then it stopped in the space between your collarbone...on the ring, to be exact.

“W-what is it about obaa-chan’s necklace?”

“I gave this to her 30 years ago. This is mine.” He said, touching the ring and feeling its smoothness on his cold skin. Your eyes widened and thoughts starting entering your mind. Different scenarios and everything... “3o years ago...yes, i remember you saying that earlier.” you unconsciously touched the throbbing mark on your neck.

“I don’t scare you, correct?” Nijimura stated and you just stared at him in confusion.

“No...not much. But your actions does.” you admitted.

“I was told by an acquaintance that its fate that Sayaka passed it to you.” Nijimura said, “You will be my mate.”

“What?!” you choked upon realizing what he just said.

“You heard me, you will be my mate.”

“No-”

“I’m a pure blood. I control the miracles that makes this country.” he told you with a straight face, “I’m asking you to be my mate.” He added lastly.

“Mate? What does that-” You face turned red realizing what he meant completely. “That sound so crude!” you backed away from Nijimura who frowned at your answer and your reaction.

“Partner, my lover. My wife.” he said making you turn redder than you are right now. “Your body, your heart will belong to me.”

“You’re crazy!” you accused him, “You’re dead-fuck crazy! I’ll give you back obaa-chan’s ring, if that is what you want! Just don’t come to me again with that approach!” you grabbed the necklace from your neck but grabbed nothing.

‘What!? It’s not here!!’

“You’re looking for this?” Nijimura opened his hand to you, revealing the necklace and your ring.

“This is what Sayaka left you...are you sure you want to give it back to me?” He asked with a serious look on his face. Not angry, not smiling...empty.

“G-give that back you bastard vampire!” you jumped from the couch to reach for his hand but failed as his reflexes are ten times faster than yours.

“Careful,” he warned, “I may have control over my thirst, but once you scratch yourself anywhere in front of me the smell of your blood will immediately turn me into something I cannot promise that will not hurt you. Especially now that I got a taste of your blood.”

“Whose fault do you think it is!?” you returned, “You bit me without permission! And now you want me to be more careful while being around you?!”

“If I ask permission, will you allow me?” he asked.

“Of cou-” You stopped talking and stared at him in embarrassment. “Bastard, give that back to me! You already gave that to my grandmother, therefor you have no rights to take that from me!” you called out, changing the subject.

You earned a smirk from Nijimura from your reaction.

“I’ll return this to you when you agree with me.” Nijimura said before turning away and leaving you on your own inside his living room.

Starting that night, you made sure to avoid Nijimura’s track. You never let your parents ask you to bring stuff over to his house, stating that he has his own butler who can serve to his needs. That indeed was true. One time you saw someone entering his house holding groceries and such. You were surprised that vampires exist...for real but questioned the gods as to why he needs to put one next to your life?

Knowing Nijimura before he showed you that he was a creature of the night, you realize that he eats normal meals like normal humans. Comes out in the broad daylight without getting burnt or shinning like a glitter-man. Like a normal human being, he walks around with the normal people. So basically, Nijimura is normal and can handle normal life without the help of anyone.

But wow... He did say that he controls the miracle of this country...what does that mean? Is he some kind of god giving miracle???

You flipped the TV channels boringly until you stopped in the Japanese News Channel.

“...And the grandson of the famous entrepreneur and now the chairman of the Akashi Corp. Akashi Seijurou has announced that he will open Japan’s largest hotel chain that can rival any seven star hotels in the world and he will name it, Kiseki no Sedai Hotel---” Your eyes narrowed at the news reporter before you started flipping channels again.

“---Famous model actor, Kise Ryouta is a miracle from the heavens--” you frowned, before changing the channels ones again, “---Chef from the US has arrived back to Japan. Taking with him the gold from his exceptional mastery in baking! Let us welcome, the the miracle chef from Akita, Murasakibara Atsu--”

“---that the child survive from the operation. The chance of her waking up was below 10 percent. But thanks to the miracle surgeon, Midorima Shintarou the operation was a succe--”

“Grandson of the famous basketball legend...” you frowned at the different channels, everything was about miracles? What the fuck? Is his words eating you up? Grumbling, you decided to just stop turning the channels and let it rest in a sports one.

“Screw miracles. There’s no such miracle here.” you grumbled.

“I worked with the other generation of miracles during my childhood years. They are good, but not as good as me.” the audience laughed at the tanned man who was talking, “Thank you for granting us this privilege for an interview, Aomine-san.”

’Fuck it.’

You turned the TV off and unconsciously touched your neck, trying to locate the feeling of the necklace’s around your neck but failed. Since you started wearing the necklace, it has been a habit for you to touch your neck and feel your necklace while thinking but right now, Nijimura has it.

“(Name), are you doing something?” you heard your mother’s call from the kitchen downstairs. Standing up from your bed, you walked to see what your mother was calling you for.

“No, I’m not doing anything.” You answered, “What is it?”

“Ah, great. Can you take this to Nijimura-san?” hearing the man’s name you frowned and unconsciously touched your neck. The mark of his fang has faded, yet there was still that throbbing feeling inside your vein.

“Now? Where is dad?”

“He went drinking with his coworkers.” She answered, “Anyways, I’ll be going out for a while. I’ll leave the house to you.”

“Yeah, sure.” You rolled your eyes and glance at the small box of sandwiches your mother prepared for Nijimura.

Walking out of the house with your mom, you separated when you took turn at Nijimura’s front gate and walked up to his front door before ringing the bell.

“Nijimura-san!” you called and waited for him to open the door. “Nijimura-san, Mom sent some sandwiches!”

There was no answer.

“Nijimura-san, I’m coming in!” you called out and turned the knob to let yourself inside. To be honest, you don’t care if he’s a vampire or whatever creature. He won’t hurt you right? I mean, he’s a friend of your obaa-chan and such...

When you entered the house, you found it empty. No, not entirely empty...but it seems like no one is home for a while now.

“Nijimura-san?” you called again, “Are you home?”

No answer.

“You’re not home then?” you frowned and walked to the kitchen and decided to put the sandwiches inside his fridge, but you stopped your track when you walked past the study room and notice something glint from your peripheral vision.

“Nijimura-san, are you there?” you opened the door and found him there sitting on the chair. “What the? I’ve been calling outside for you to come out and you’re just sitting here inside your office like a dead man?”

Nijimura was there, sitting on his chair, eyes dark, empty and cold. He was staring at you, and it was his eyes that glinted that made you turn your attention to the study room where he was.

“Nijimura-san, are you not going to answer me?” You asked again as you glare down at his form on the chair. “I know you’re dead, but did you die again, because you look like a lifeless vampire.” you jokingly commented, but he didn’t blink nor move a finger.

“Nijimura.” you grumbled.

“Nijimura Shuuzo!” You repeated angrily, this time louder and forceful.

Nijimura blinked and his eyes focused on you...to where you stand. His eyes widened upon seeing you standing in front of him.

‘Sayaka’

“You look like you have seen a ghost.” you commented as you placed the box of sandwich you brought on his table. “Mom made sandwiches, don’t waste it.”

Hearing the warning tone from your voice, Nijimura winced, his throat is starting to dry...

“(Name).” his voice was smooth and yet there was a threatening tone mixed in it.

“What?” you glared at him. “If you are going to talk about your offer, my answer is NO-” Before you could finish your answer, his hand grabbed your wrist and pulled you over his table.

“Let me...just one...” he breathed when he pulled you closer to his face, you didn’t notice that when he pulled you up on the table, that you have already scrapped your knee...

“Shit-” you winced in pain.

“(Name)...” you heard him again, this time your attention was on the expression on his face.

“What?! Don't tell me you're--!?" Your eyes widened in realization and you tried you tried your best to push him away but he was stronger than you.

'This was different from the last time...' you commented to yourself.

It was true this was different from the first time he came and suck your blood. He wasn't forceful, but he stared at your eyes that time and the next thing you know is that you cannot move our body and you were frozen on the spot. Leaving you defenseless and open for him to be eaten. But right now..

Right now, he wasn't using his powers...if that's what you call it; He can completely make you vulnerable and open for him with a single look, but he didn't use it.

You felt his tongue lapping on your neck to the spot where he marked you the last time. His one hand on holding your wrists behind you to preventing you from moving unnecessarily while on top of him (straddling him to be exact).

"(Name)." He repeated and you could feel his cold breath on your neck making you shiver. "I'm thirsty," he repeated tiredly.

"What are you waiting for!?" You asked angrily, "you have me already here, what else do you expect me to do!?"

Nijimura didn't answer but he leaned his head on your shoulder and is breathing heavily.

"Nijimura!?" Seconds later Nijimura's hold on your wrist loosened and his head became heavy on your shoulder. “Oi!” you pushed him back to his chair and saw his eyes closed and looked like he’s in pain.

“Nijimura-san?!” you shook him and he just leaned his head on his chair like there was something hurting inside him, “Are you ill?!”

“...leave.” he said quietly, panting.

“What? How about you?”

“Leave...because I want to devour you.” Your eyes widened and you immediately jumped away from him who suddenly started coughing. “Leave!”

“I-I--” you got scared, but at the same time, you are worried. But he wants you to leave him...and so you did. You run out of the room, leaving Nijimura catching up with his breathing.

Or so that is what Nijimura thought when he heard the door close after you left him. But moments later, you came back holding a cup of tea that you found at his kitchen.

“Nijimura-san, drink this!” You said kneeling down next to his chair.

“You’re still here, are you an idiot?” you heard him say weakly.

“Who is the idiot here?” you said, “If you’re thirsty, drink this. Not blood.”

“Silly girl. I’m a vampire, not a human. I drink blood, not tea.” He said, but he took as sip of the tea you gave him.

“I know, but this will at least sate your thirst...at least a little.” you added lastly.

“It wont.” He assured you. “I’ve been holding back since the last time.”

“Last time?” you looked up at him, “When you forcefully suck my blood?” Nijimura stared at you blankly, it was a silent answer to your question.

“You’re an idiot. A big old idiot.” you swallowed and sat on the floor when he breathed out gently and was slightly relieved from his thirst. “You should have sucked some random person’s blood.” you suggested.

“A normal human will not suggest something like that.” Nijimura commented.

“Well, it’s not like you will kill them or anything. Maybe you can use your power at them so that they’ll let you drink their blood.” Nijimura quietly leaned back and watched the serious look on your face. “I’m serious.”

“Do you want me to use my powers to make you agree with my wishes?”

“No.” you answered immediately.

“See?”

“Are you feeling better now?” You asked instead, changing the topic and looking away with a red face.

“You should leave.” Nijimura said instead, “I’m still thirsty. And you sitting here inside the study room with me isn’t helping.”

“I can’t leave you like that.”

“What else can you do for me?” Nijimura dared and you stared at him, thinking.

“I can get you something to eat?” you offered, unsure. Nijimura just laughed and then there was silence.

“That all?” Nijimura asked again. “I told you already, normal food isn’t enough. If you really want to do something for me, how about...?”

Your face turned red and you frowned at him.

“What? I haven’t said anything yet.” Nijimura watched your expression closely.

“Shut up! If you want my blood then take it! Drink and be well!” you suddenly spat out surprising Nijimura with your offer.

“Your blood?” He raised a brow.

“--But this doesn’t mean that-that-t-that I’m agreeing to be your partner!” you stuttered in deep embarrassment without looking at him and shakily exposing your neck for him.

“Are you sure with this?” Nijimura breathed next to you. You didn’t know how he suddenly appear there next to you, kneeling; his mouth hovering over your neck---but you are not surprised why he could do that...not anymore.

“Stop asking questions before I change my mind.” you told him and he leaned closer to your neck before he licked the exposed skin lovingly followed by a gentle yet painful feeling of him sinking his fangs on your skin...you winced in pain, hands clinging unconsciously on his shirt.

’Sayaka’

Since that evening, Nijimura had become more open to you...no, scratch that, he just stopped holding back.

“Ow--Ah! Nijimura-saahn!” you whimpered as you try your best to not push his head away from your neck. You can almost hear the slurping sound as he drinks his fill of your blood the nth time that week.

When he feels like it, he comes to wherever you are and sucks half the life out of you.

He cleaned the remaining blood on your neck by licking and sucking them from your skin and making sure that there’s no mark left aside from the mark of his sharp teeth.

That alone is enough to mark you...no one will try and approach you, human nor whatever creature they are.

“You should agree to be my lover...” Nijimura said when you opened your eyes when you regained your consciousness, “...with that, you don’t have to wake up and leave the house to go home to your parents.”

You once again reached for your neck unconsciously, this time to feel the bruise that Nijimura left.

“I don’t wanna.” you answered. “You only need food right? I can serve you that without being your lover.”

“As what my acquaintance say: ‘It is fate. It is fate that Sayaka gave you the ring.’” He said.

“Did obaa-chan give you blood when you get thirsty?” Hearing your grandmother’s name, you questioned him. You never really ask him of his real relationship with your grandmother. He never talk about her too...aside for that ring.

“She knew what I was and like you, at first, she got afraid and by the end if the day she won’t stop making a joke about me being a vampire.” He said, “that’s all.”

“My question is: Did she give you blood when you get thirsty?” you repeated.

“I’ll tell you about that when you agree to be mine.” Nijimura answered. “But I’ll tell you one thing...your blood is the finest...” he whispered quietly when he released you from his grasp.

“You really won’t tell me anything about your relationship with her?”

“You will be graduating this coming month, aren’t you (name)?” Changing the subject, you frowned at Nijimura.

“Yes. I’m planning on traveling to with my friends before I get ready for university.” you answered anyways.

“Then we will throw a party for you, when you come back.”

“What for? For graduating high school?”

“No, for passing the university exam.” he informed you.

“How the hell did you know that?” you gasped in surprise. “I was keeping the result from everyone.”

“I have my sources.” Nijimura answered as he placed down a cup of tea in front of you. “Drink.”

“My parents are the only one who knows that!” you picked up the cup and stared at its content.

“Make sure you come back on the weekend. I need you here.”

“You ask too much from me.” you tilted your head to the side examining Nijimura’s face. “If ask you to do something, will you do it for me?”

“It depends.” Nijimura answered.

“Then my answer will also be the same: it depends, on my schedule.”

“Drink the tea.” he ordered with an irritated tone and eyes narrowing at your answer.

“Have you fallen in love?” you asked him randomly. Nijimura stared at you before he answered...

“I won’t be asking you to be my partner if I haven’t.” Nijimura answered seriously making you stare up at him, speechless from his statement.
